More hours to go (April 19, 2003)

Speaking of indie RPGs, there are eight interesting games here. They were all written in 24 hours flat. Some of ‘em work, some of ‘em don’t, I think they’re all interesting experiments. We really need to schedule a regular indie gaming night, maybe monthly.

I can think of several tasks to which the 24-hour concept could be applied with more entertaining results. That said, some of these people are much, much better (or at least faster) at layout than I. It would never even have occurred to me to author an RPG in anything but plaintext.

Hee. Phil Reed is an amazing layout guy, actually. This thread links to a PDF in which he describes his techniques. The graphics in Vs. Monsters are basically the inside of a blank scanner scan.

I think the original thread which triggered this mandated PDF format.
