Your host Bryant Durrell is a manager, a system administrator, a writer, a political observer, a gamer, a movie buff, and a collector. Most of these find their way into the blog eventually. He lives in Seattle with his wife and two cats.
I started this blog (using Movable Type) back in 2002. In 2007, after a hard drive crash, I recovered the blog but somewhat moodily decided to move blogging over to LiveJournal and Imaginary Vestibule. Vestibule was supposed to be the culture blog and LJ was intended to be the personal blog, I think. That never really worked out right for me, so I merged the Vestibule and a side blog I was running for my 101 things in 1,001 days back into Population: One in 2009.
Around the same time in 2009, I built Imaginary Cogs as a professional blog. It’s never been all that busy; I intend to maintain it separately.
In 2025, I pulled the trigger on something I’d been meaning to do for a while and got off Wordpress onto Hugo. For reasons. I’m happy with the change so far. One of these days I’ll move Cogs as well.
