Speaking of God, may I point out that it is just pathetic that the National Parks Service is putting creationist texts on sale in the Grand Canyon park bookstore? Not to mention the rest of the fundamentalist ideology-mongering revealed in this article.
Edit: there’s been a bit of backpedalling. Unclear how much.
You may point out anything you want, but I don’t see how it kills you that a viewpoint is made available. The other stuff about squelching viewpoints, on the other hand, is, of course, reprehensible. I’m just suggesting that the broadness of the brush be carefully controlled, here.
Well. I will, at some point, draw the line between “viewpoint” and “falsehood.” I think everyone will; to go to the extreme, I suspect very few people would consider it appropriate if the Park Service decided to sell literature explaining how the moon landing was faked at the Smithsonian.
You and I may well differ on where the line is, but you should not be surprised that I draw a line.
